CENTRAL SQUARE — The Oswego varsity girls volleyball team defeated Central Square, 3-2, on Wednesday.

The Lady Buccaneers won the first two games at 25-21 and 25-13, respectively, then the Lady Hawks took the next two games (25-21 and 27-25) to tie the match up at 2-2. Oswego, however, finished off Central Square with a 25-14 victory in the fifth game.

Victoria Tripp finished with three aces, 14 kills and six blocks for the Lady Bucs. Katie Nettles chipped in 21 assists and an ace, while Mary Culeton had three aces, eight kills and 10 digs. Lilyann Mathews added 13 digs; Caitlin Lilly contributed an ace, 12 kills, and three blocks; Nicole Pappa had five kills and 16 digs; and Alyssa Morley tallied 23 assists.


Fulton 3, Auburn 1: The Fulton varsity girls volleyball squad topped Auburn by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday.

The Lady Raiders took a 2-0 match lead following wins in the first (25-13) and second (25-14) games. The Lady Maroons grabbed the third game (25-23) to slice the deficit to 2-1, but Fulton capped the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth game.

Ella Henderson led the Lady Raiders with five aces, 10 assists and four digs. Jayda Blakeman chipped in five aces and five assists, while Chloe Hurlbut tallied six aces, three kills and four digs. Abby Pawlewicz tabbed 13 digs and an ace, and Alena Wright put together two aces, five kills, five digs and a block. Julie Duval contributed six digs.


Auburn 218, Oswego 224: The Oswego varsity boys golf team fell 218-224 to Auburn on Wednesday.

Ryan Bartlett carded a 43 for the Buccaneers. Mike Douglas shot a 44, while Neil Roman and Jack Hall each scored a 45. Jack O’Leary had a 47.

Central Square 215, Fulton 242: The Fulton varsity boys golf team lost 215-242 to Central Square on Wednesday.

Robert Voss shot a 44 for the Raiders. Trey White carded a 48, while Tanner Emmons and Lucas Nelson both had a 49. Tanner Tetro scored a 52.


Homer 4, Mexico 0: The Homer varsity girls soccer team handed Mexico a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Briana Urquhart made seven saves in the net for the Lady Tigers.
