The Oswego varsity boys hockey team topped Spencerport 3-1 on Saturday.

Carson Colucci, Ike Calverase, and Nick Burnett each scored a goal for the Buccaneers. Calverase provided two assists, while Colucci and Ryan Bartlett each had one assist. Goaltender Brandon Demling made 24 saves.

A.J. Giannavola notched the lone goal for the Rangers. Rachel Brase stopped 32 shots.

Giannavola tallied his goal at 6:46 in the first period to give Spencerport a 1-0 lead. At 12:05 in the first, Colucci tied it with his goal.

Following a scoreless second period, Oswego went to work in the third period. Calverase’s goal at 1:25 made it 2-1, and Burnett rounded out the scoring with a goal at 6:12.


Oswego 1, Ithaca 1: Oswego and Ithaca played to a 1-1 overtime tie on Friday at Cass Park.

Isabelle Dobson scored Oswego’s goal, assisted by Katie Fierro and Lily Hunter. Goalie Ashley Finch made 25 saves.

For the Little Red, Cam Lemberg scored from Reilly Lemberg and Grace Conuel. Catie Eisenhut stopped 24 shots.

Dobson netted her goal late in the second period. Lemberg tied it with 56 seconds remaining in the third period.

The Bucs had two breakaway attempts, but couldn’t finish for the game-winning score.


Hannibal 47, Phoenix 44: Hannibal defeated Phoenix 47-44 Saturday in the consolation game of the Fulton Savings Bank Tournament.

James Somers paced the Warriors with 14 points. Kyle Dixon chipped in 13 points, and Austin Calkins added nine points. Jake Powell had five points.

For the Firebirds, Adam Hahn connected for 26 points, and Josh Bianchi had 14.

Phoenix had a 23-15 lead at the half and still led by eight going into the fourth quarter. Hannibal went on an 18-7 run to complete the come-from-behind victory.


Mexico Invitational: The Mexico varsity diving team hosted its annual diving invitational on Friday at Mexico High School.

The Tigers’ Kian Long placed second with a score of 409.65 points. Andrew Harriger took 11th (275.7 points).

New Hartford’s Moaz Elazzazi won the title with 458.05 points.
