ROCHESTER — Jeremiah Sparks’ 25 points, 11 rebounds and two steals lift Oswego men’s basketball team to a 77-73 win over Nazareth College on Tuesday.
The Golden Flyers had a slim 34-32 lead at the break. In the second half, the Lakers mustered a 45-39 run to squeeze past Nazareth.
Liam Sanborn finished with 18 points and five assists for Oswego State. Brandan Gartland chipped in 14 points and six rebounds, and Joe Sullivan grabbed 12 rebounds. Julien Crittendon provided nine points and eight boards.
For Nazareth (4-2), Fulton native and G. Ray Bodley High School graduate Cody Green tossed in 13 points. Zach Stenglein tallied 17 points, six assists and two steals. Stephen Gabel contributed 15 points and seven rebounds, and Isaac Nelson had 14 points and three steals. Jonathan Park tabbed 10 rebounds.
The Lakers outrebounded the Flyers, 43-34. Oswego State shot 44 percent from the field, as opposed to Nazareth’s 42.3 percent.
Oswego State (4-0) is at St. Lawrence University (0-3) on Monday. Tip-off against the Saints is set for 7:30 p.m.
