VERONA — The Fulton and Mexico varsity wrestling teams competed at the annual Red Devil Invitational Saturday at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.
The Raiders won the team title with 168 points, three points ahead of second-place finisher Windsor of Section IV (165). Mexico came in 16th (44).
Rounding out the top five were BGAH (153), Warrensburg (128) and Beaver River (110).
Dominick Hofmann won the bracket at 106 pounds. In the title bout, Hofmann won a 6-4 decision over BGAH’s Joey Florance.
At 132, Cole French went 4-0 and captured the crown. French won by decision (5-1) over Central Valley Academy’s Dawson Mower.
Sam May at 145 compiled a 3-0 record and grabbed the title. In the championship match, May won an 11-2 major decision over Morrisville-Eaton’s Dakota Hackett.
Ian Bogardus came in second at 170. After winning an 11-2 major decision over Whitesboro’s R.J. Dellahunt in the semifinal round, Bogardus fell 7-1 to Windsor’s Langdon Sibly in the title match.
At 182, Cameron Lugo took third with a 3-1 mark. In the third-place match, Lugo won a 3-1 decision over Dolgeville’s Kyle Getman.
Matt Woodworth at 220 went 3-1 and placed third. He grabbed an 8-3 overtime decision over Beaver River’s Connor Edick in the third-place match.
At 160, Michael Strong finished fifth with a 2-2 record. He was victorious by decision (6-2) over VVS’s Logan Vanderhoof in the fifth-place match.
Dylan Waldron (120) placed fourth after going 3-2 at the tourney. Walter Crofoot (126) grabbed fourth with a 2-2 mark. Dylan Waldron (113) went 1-2.
Bryan Stock went 3-1 and finished third in the bracket at 138. In the third-place match, Stock won a 9-4 decision over Warrensburg’s Zachary Shambo.
At 285, Jacob Becker finished fifth with a 2-2 record. He pinned Holland Patent’s Joe Gotte at the 37-second mark in the fifth-place bout.
Ethan Lillie (170) placed sixth with a 2-3 record. Austin Miller (182) went 1-3.
