OSWEGO — The No. 10 Oswego State men’s hockey team fell 1-0 to Saint Mary’s, Friday in the opening round of the Pathfinder Bank Hockey Classic at the Marano Campus Center Arena.

The Lakers (7-4) go up against No. 9 University of New England (9-3) today in the tournament consolation game. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

The lone goal of the game came from Tommy Stang at 19:42 in the first period.

Oswego State David Richer made 21 saves. Al Rogers stopped 30 shots for Saint Mary’s.

The Lakers and Cardinals both killed four penalties.


Williams 2, New England 1: The No. 14 Williams College men’s hockey team defeated the University of New England, 2-1, Friday in the opening round of the Pathfinder Bank Hockey Classic.

The Ephs (7-2) take on Saint Mary’s of Minnesota (4-5-1) today in the tournament championship game. The puck drops at 4 p.m.

Nick Altmann scored both goals for Williams. His first goal was on the power play at 19:20 in the second period, and his second goal was the game winner with 15 seconds left in the third period.

Jeff Eppright notched the lone goal of the game for the Nor’easters.

Goaltender Cosimo Lazzarino stopped 36 shots for the Ephs. Ben Churchfield made 22 saves between the pipes for New England.
