PLATTSBURGH — The Oswego State women’s hockey team lost 7-1 to No. 1 Plattsburgh on Friday in the first matchup of a two-game Northeast Women’s Hockey League weekend series.

Avery Webster netted the lone goal of the game for the Lakers. Between the pipes, Rachael Farmer and Tia Trovato combined to make 39 saves.

For the Cardinals, Kaitlin Drew-Mead recorded a hat trick, with one of her goals on a power play. Annie Katonka chipped in two goals, while Maggie Blair and Erin McArdle (power play) both scored.

Sara Krauseneck, Abby Brush and Hannah Kiraly tallied two assists apiece. Goaltender Lilla Nease stopped 10 shots for Plattsburgh.

The score was 1-0 Cards heading into the first intermission. Drew-Mead scored her first of three goals on the night in the first period.

In the second period, Plattsburgh exploded for six goals, with Drew-Mead and Katonka both slapping in two goals. Blair and McArdle scored the other two.

Webster scored her goal in the third period for Oswego State.

Oswego State and Plattsburgh wrap up their two-game series today at 3 p.m.
