OSWEGO — Oswego Speedway will have its annual “Retro Night” special this Saturday, presented by JP Jewelers of Oswego.

Saturday’s racing will get underway at 6:45 p.m. Hot laps start at 4 p.m. and group time trials at 6:15 p.m. The 14th annual Old Timers' Reunion will be held at Lighthouse Lanes beforehand from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The program is headlined by a 45-lap Novelis Supermodified and 30-lap Pathfinder Bank Small-Block Supers features, which will springboard the speedway into its final three-race stretch of the 2019 regular season.

While supermodified and SBS campaigners continue their battles for the track championship, winged 350 Supermodified drivers will receive the night off in observance of the Jim Belfiore Memorial event at Star Speedway. The 350 supers are scheduled to return during the speedway’s Aug. 10 program.

Following Dave Gruel’s victory in the Mr. Novelis Supermodified feature two weeks ago, there are now eight different winners in nine big-block events including Gruel, Otto Sitterly, Alison Sload, Jeff Abold, Dave Danzer, Michael Barnes, Joe Gosek, and Dave Shullick Jr.

Sitterly has a top-five finish in all but one show, dominating the supermodified points race (898.5 points) over Abold (813), Gosek (776), Sload (763), and Gruel (759). Gruel recently crept into the top five with the aid of his Mr. Supermodified win.

Behind Gruel, it is anyone’s guess who will end up where as Keith Shampine, Brandon Bellinger, Shullick, Danzer, and Barnes are all locked in a very tight battle for positions six through 10.

In the SBS ranks, Anthony Losurdo has been dominant with four wins to Dave Cliff’s two and teammate David LaTulip’s lone victory. Losurdo (753) leads Cliff (727) by nearly 30 points and LaTulip by over 50 (695).

Although Sitterly and Losurdo appear to be the championship favorites, anything can happen in the final three events of the season. Several drivers remain within striking distance to keeping their title hopes alive.
