PLATTSBURGH — Oswego’s Miranda Gilbert and Hannibal’s Dillon Plantz both competed at the New York State cross country championship meet on Saturday at SUNY Plattsburgh.

In the Class C boys race, Plantz finished 15th with a time of 15:24.2 on the three-mile course. He received a state medal.

Gilbert competed in the Class A girls race, taking 37th with a time of 17:56.9.

Plantz and the Section III all-star squad won a state title with a score of 309. Saranac Lake grabbed the Class C boys team crown, and Fayetteville-Manlius took home the Class A girls trophy.

Caleb Bender of Skaneateles was the individual state champion in Class C. His time was 14:41.6.

North Rockland’s Katelyn Tuohy captured the state title for Class A with a time of 15:36.5.

Plantz and Gilbert qualified for the New York State Federation Meet this Saturday, which takes place at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls.
