OSWEGO — The Oswego Pop Warner Junior Peewee Cheerleaders and the Tiny Mite Cheerleaders recently competed against teams from all over central New York in the CNY Local Cheer Competition at the SRC Arena on the OCC Campus.

The junior peewee squad scored well enough to advance to the regional competition, which is set for Saturday, Nov. 9, in Trenton, New Jersey.

It is the first regional competition tournament for the team. The cheerleaders and their families will be fundraising throughout Oswego this weekend to help cover their expenses for this amazing opportunity.

The cheerleaders will be collecting donations at Walmart this Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Saturday at Stewart’s (E. Bridge St.) from 9 a.m. to noon; and Sunday at Walmart from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The team will also be distributing information about an open practice Tuesday, Nov. 5 that will help to recruit any kids ages 5-15 that want to join the year-round, competitive cheer program,

Oswego Pop Warner supports approximately 100 local children in a year-round program to teach team-building exercises, self-esteem, fitness and health as well as camaraderie. This program provides participants with the physical, social and emotional support, while learning leadership, responsibility, perseverance and teamwork.
