OSWEGO — Top-seeded Elks defeated sixth-seeded Vona’s, 31-3, in the Oswego Little League Majors Division semifinals on Wednesday at Lagoe Field.
The Elks move on to face second-seeded Lighthouse Lanes in the best-of-3 championships series, which starts on Monday, July 22.
Tommy Kirwan had two triples, three singles, seven runs scored and five runs batted in to lead the charge for the Elks. Nolan Roy tallied six singles, drove in six runs and scored four times. Mason Naumann collected four singles, scored four times and knocked in a run. Jameson Stepien added four singles and five RBIs, while Emery O’Brien singled three times, drove in a run and scored a run. Daniel Callen walked three times, singled, knocked in a run and scored a run. David Curry and Connor Kelly both walked twice and scored two runs. Adam Greene singled, walked and scored three runs. Luis Correa singled, doubled and scored twice, and Aaron O’Brien singled, had two RBIs and scored twice. Ethan King collected two RBIs and scored a run.
Kirwan started on the mound for the Elks and went five innings. He struck out 12 batters while allowing two runs, four walks and a hit. Naumann pitched in relief of Kirwan in the sixth inning, giving up a single and a run.
Alex Taylor singled and scored a run for Vona’s. Isaac Cuyler and Kam Pritchard each walked and scored a run, while Evan Rood and Zach Truell both walked. Oly Hoefer chipped in a single.
Luis Colon-Molina was the starting pitcher for Vona’s. Truell, Hoefer, and Malia Upcraft pitched in relief.
The Elks’ big scoring frenzy came in the second and fifth innings when they plated 11 and 10 runs, respectively. They also scored seven runs in the third inning.
Vona’s scored its runs in the third and sixth innings.
