10U all-stars beat Mexico to wrap up pool play
SYRACUSE — The Oswego 12-and-under Little League all-star team topped Baldwinsville, 13-3, in the quarterfinal round of the District 8 Tournament on Thursday.
The game went four innings due to the mercy rule.
Oswego moves on to the semifinal round against second-seeded Seneca River South, which was scheduled Friday evening (look for results of this game in Monday’s edition of The Palladium-Times). The other semifinal matchup was between fourth-seeded Cicero and top-seeded Crown City.
The winners in the semifinal round will trek to the championship game this Sunday at noon at Skyway Park in Syracuse.
Dominic Alfano-Kimball picked up the win on the mound for Oswego. Alfano-Kimball went three innings and struck out seven batters. He allowed five walks, three hits and two walks.
Tommy Kirwan pitched in relief of Alfano-Kimball in the fourth inning, striking out the side to end the game.
Nolan Roy homered, had two singles and scored two runs for Oswego. Kirwan doubled, walked and scored twice. Jack Haynes doubled and scored a run, while Carter Guynn singled, walked and scored two runs. Isaac Krul walked, singled and scored a run. Matt Willis walked twice and scored a run, and Oley Hoefer walked and scored a run. Kimball, Nolan Connors, and Daniel Callen each hit a single and scored a run. Mason Naumann singled twice and Owen Seubert was issued a walk.
Luke Primrose singled, walked and scored a run for Baldwinsville. Chris Patruno and Nate Edwards both walked and scored a run. Jimmy Reynolds doubled, Jacob Guelli singled, and Will Cornell walked twice.
Oswego and Baldwinsville were knotted at 1-1 after the first inning. Baldwinsville took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second, but Oswego plated four runs in the bottom of the second for a 5-3 advantage. After scoring a run in the third to bump the score to 6-3, Oswego exploded for seven runs in the top of the fourth to put Baldwinsville away for good.

District 8 10U All-Star Tournament
Oswego 17, Mexico 1: The Oswego 10-and-under Little League all-star team triumphed over Mexico by a score of 17-1, in three innings on Thursday in the final pool play matchup of the District 8 Tournament.
Oswego finished 3-0 in the Blue Pool. Oswego moves on to the championship bracket where they will be the top seed.
Oswego will receive a bye in the semifinal round, scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lakeland Park in Syracuse. They will await the winner of Central Square/East Syracuse-Minoa in the quarterfinal round, which was played Friday evening. The winners in the semifinal round will head into the championship game, slated for this Sunday at 1 p.m. at Skyway Park.
Connor Kelly doubled, singled, scored two runs and drove in a run for Oswego. Brett DeGrenier doubled, singled, scored two runs, walked and stole a base. Michael Waters scored three times and stole two bases, while Reiymar Colon singled, walked and scored twice. Eddie Kuzawski and Christian Thompson both had a singled and scored two runs. Gavin Guynn walked and scored two runs, and Maddox Browngardt walked twice and scored two runs. Owen Bartlett walked and scored a run.
Kuzawski started on the bump, went 1.2 innings and notched the victory for Oswego. He struck out three batters while allowing three walks, a hit and a run. DeGrenier pitched in relief of Kuzawski and went 1.1 innings, fanning two at the plate and gave up a walk and a hit.
Oswego and Mexico were tied at one following the first inning. Oswego then put Mexico away with a 16-run second inning.
