Firefighters' performers

OSWEGO — The Firefighters recently defeated Bosco’s twice in Oswego Little League Majors Division action.

The Firefighters slipped past Bosco’s by a score of 9-8 in the first game, and won 8-3 in the second matchup.

Firefighters 9, Bosco’s 8: Jack Haynes led a Firefighters rally in the sixth inning. With two runners on and two outs, Haynes cracked a line-drive two-run double to the left-center field gap to propel the Firefighters to a walk-off victory. 

Matt Willis started on the mound for the Firefighters, fanning 11 batters through four innings. Eddie Kuzawski pitched in relief and tacked on two more strikeouts.

Carter Guynn went 4-for-4 at the plate for the Firefighters. Haynes (2) and Jason Bartlett each had base hits.

Gavin Ruggio led the Bosco’s offense, going 4-for-4 at the dish with two doubles and two singles as his hits. Ian Partlow hit a triple, while Isaac Krul, Adam Gfeller, Rey Colon and Cayden Carpenter each had a base hit.

Firefighters 8, Bosco’s 3: Nolan Connors captured the win on the bump for the Firefighters. He went 5.1 innings and struck out 10 batters. Jack Haynes came in to close the game as he picked up the save and two strikeouts.

Matt Willis led the Firefighters’ offensive charge with a triple and a double. Haynes (2) and Connors each chipped in doubles. Carter Guynn, Ethan King, and Jason Bartlett each contributed hits.

Gavin Ruggio collected a double and a single for Bosco’s. Noah Caroccio, Toby Caroccio, and Thomas Rolfe each added a base hit.
