OSWEGO — The Oswego JV girls basketball team won its fourth-consecutive game on Friday, edging Auburn 48-47 in Powers Gymnasium at Leighton Elementary School.
The Bucs sprinted out to a 15-4 first-quarter lead, but Auburn fought back and brought it to a one-point game midway through the third quarter.
“This was a wild game that had a varsity-like feel to it, especially in the last quarter,” Oswego coach Ryan Lavner said. “This game went back and forth throughout the last quarter and demanded our ability to stay relaxed when the pressure was high. It is difficult to simulate a late-game situation in practice, but we stayed disciplined when Auburn wanted to speed us up, allowing us to hold on for the victory.”
Sophia Babcock scored 16 points and Megan Corrice added 14 to lead the Oswego JVs (5-5).
