Season begins

The Oswego Health girls 10U hockey team has started its season. The team lost to Misstate 3-2 and defeated Elmira 5-2.

OSWEGO — The Oswego Health girls 10U hockey team opened its season recently with two games.

Midstate 3, Oswego 2: The first game of the season saw the team drop a close game against Midstate in Cicero.

Oswego took an early lead when Paiton Colucci scored with assists credited to Marissa Sharkey and Clare Furlong.

Midstate took a 3-1 lead halfway through the second period before Furlong made it a one-goal game assisted by Colucci and Sharkey.

Regan Healy made 21 saves for Oswego.

Oswego 5, Elmira 2: Oswego played host to Elmira the following day and won, 5-2.

Gabby Martin opened the scoring for the home team early in the first period on a pass from Marissa Sharkey.

Elmira fought back in the first and took a 2-1 lead before Oswego scored four unanswered goals. Mia Naumann tied the game early in the second on a feed from Martin. Kaitlynn Astle gave Oswego the lead for good four minutes later assisted by Paiton Colucci.

Claire Furlong made it 4-2 less than a minute later, and Kara Hsu closed out the scoring in the 5-2 win.

After the early lead for Elmira, Oswego goaltender Regan Healy closed the door and shut the visitors out the final two periods.
