HAMBURG — Oswego High School graduate Maia Delaney recently wrapped up her sophomore season with the Hilbert College softball team.

Delaney excelled for the Hawks as she received a nod for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate All-Conference second team. She is the first Hawks softball player to be selected since the 2012 season.

Delaney was also honored as the Hawks’ most valuable player for the second-straight season, and named the captain as well.

The Oswego native’s .413 batting average ranked her fourth in the AMCC, as she led the Hawks in most offensive categories. Delaney tallied 80 at-bats, 19 runs scored, 33 hits, and three RBIs. She also had five doubles, two triples and a home run while earning eight walks this season. She stole six bases and also started 26 games in center field for the Hawks.

After only two seasons at Hilbert, Delaney is currently two triples away from becoming the Hawks softball program’s all-time leader. She currently sits in a second-place tie with seven-career triples.
