ILION — The Mexico and Hannibal/Cato-Meridian varsity wrestling teams competed in the Section III Class B Tournament on Saturday at Central Valley Academy.

CVA won the team competition with 218 points. Mexico (160) was third, and Hannibal/C-M (157.5) placed fifth. Ten teams were represented at the event.

Hunter White of Hannibal/C-M won the championship at 126 pounds, pinning CVA’s Kace Cook in 3:08 in the finals.

Placing second for Hannibal/C-M were Jack Lamson at 106 pounds, Chad Thompson at 152, and Ethan Scanlon at 182.

Mexico got second-place finishes from Dean Shambo at 132 pounds, Ethan Lillie at 170, and Jacob O’Reilly at 220.

Third-place finishers were Hannibal/C-M’s Tyler Murray at 126, Mexico’s Bryan Stock at 138, Mexico’s Austin Miller at 182, and Mexico’s Jacob Becker at 285.

Taking fourth for Hannibal/C-M were Anthony Crofoot at 220 and Santana Salvador at 285. Placing fourth for Mexico were George Smith at 120, Joey Reed at 132, and Harley Wakeman at 152.
