OSWEGO — Tony Markou will lead the field to the green on Sunday’s Wilkins RV 50 as 40 Pro Stock drivers vied for starting positions in Friday’s time trials at Oswego Speedway.

Markou turned in a best lap of 24.585.

“This is huge for me just because there has been a lot of personal battles for me the last three years,” he said. “I’m estatic. This means the world to me. This is the first time I’ve ever been here. I’m relying on my crew chief and my guys to make adjustments based on the feedback I give them and they nailed it. I truly feel blessed.”

Markou added, “I actually raced for many years a long time ago and gave it up to raise a family. Now I’m back after a 20-year absence from racing.”

Joining Markou alongside the front row will be Josh Coonradt.

“We made a few good laps and made it count,” Coonradt said. “We figured if we could keep it right down there near the wall we could get a few good laps and we did.”

Luke Horning will start inside the second row with a 24.892, while the fourth spot went to Dany Vogel, who was clocked at 24.952.

The final two locking in was last year’s Pro Stock 50 winner C.D. Beauchamp (25.071), and Frank Twing (25.075).

Filling out the top 10 were Rob Yetman, Chris Crane, Burton Ward and Jonathan Levesque.

The only local driver seeking a starting spot was Mexico’s Russ Marsden, who timed in at 33rd with a 25.972.

Thirty-eight cars took time with Pascal Pauyer being disqualified. Travis Welsch, along with Edward Kotary, could not take the green.
