OSWEGO — Melissa Mulvaney of the Oswego State softball team has been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Mulvaney was an integral part in helping the team achieve a 4-2 record during the week, playing especially well in the two conference wins on Friday. In the six games, she went 7-for-16 (. 438) including three walks, giving her a .526 on base percentage.
The junior also hit the first home run of her career, a solo shot, on her way to a nine-RBI week.
In the conference-opening double header against Brockport, Mulvaney put up career numbers. She had three hits (including the solo homerun) in game one, drove in three runs, and scored two more. In the second matchup she grabbed two more hits and added a walk, picking up a career-high four RBIs.
The second basemen was a rock on defense as well, adding ten putouts and nine assists to her stat line. Two of her putouts came by the way of leaping grabs against Brockport, one of which led to a double play.
