OSWEGO — Carrying a $25,000 grand prize for the angler catching the largest salmon, the Lake Ontario Counties Fall Salmon Derby is scheduled for Aug. 16 through Sept. 2.

Divisions for the derby are the Salmon Division, the Rainbow/Steelhead Division, and the Brown Trout Division.

For the Salmon Division, first place pays $5,000. Other prizes are $2,000 for second, $1,100 for third, $900 for fourth, $700 for fifth, $400 for places 6-10, $200 for places 11-15, and $100 for places 16-20.

For the other two divisions, the first-place prize is $2,500. They will pay $1,000 for second, $550 for third, $450 for fourth, $350 for fifth, $200 for places 6-10, $100 for places 11-15, and $50 for places 16-20.

No New York State fishing license is required to register for the fall derby.

The awards ceremony is slated for Sept. 2 at Captain Jack’s in Sodus Point.

Weigh stations in Oswego County are All Seasons Sports in Pulaski, K&G Lodge in Oswego, and Woody’s Tackle & General Store in Pulaski. Anglers may register at any weigh station, or at Fat Nancy’s Tackle Shop in Pulaski.
