SYRACUSE — The Mexico and Fulton varsity boys swimming and diving squads were crowned co-Section III Class B champions on Thursday at Nottingham High School.
The Tigers and Raiders’ teams both had a total score of 425.5 Oswego came in fourth with a score of 266, while New Hartford finished third (273). South Jefferson placed fifth (192).
The Farwell Cup, also known as the state qualifier, will be this Saturday at Nottingham High School. Diving events will begin at 8 a.m., while swimming starts at 1 p.m.
Mark Tallents won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.61. Tallents came in second in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in a time of 2:04.14.
Archer grabbed a winning time of 56.87 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke.
Then in the 200-yard medley relay, Tallents along with Archer, Ean Stevenson and TJ Clayton were victorious with a combined time of 1:41.86.
Bryce Rogers swam to a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.86). Clayton grabbed third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.41 seconds.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Archer, Rogers, Tallents and Stevenson placed second with a compiled time of 3:27.69.
Dylan Long won two individual events for the Tigers. Long was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.07) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.86).
In the 200-yard medley, Scott Kessler, Tyler Warner, Joe Ocker and Ryan Liedka grabbed second with a total time of 1:48.31.
Porter swam to a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.65). He also scooped up a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, placing with a time of 57.27 seconds.
Logan Dana took second in the diving event with a score of 402.35, while Tyler Warner came in second in the 100-yard backstroke (58.87 seconds).
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Porter, Long, Warner and Nick Hartmann placed third with a time of 3:30.41.
Casey DeLapp tallied two individual event victories for the Buccaneers. DeLapp won the 100-yard freestyle (49.36 seconds) and the 50-yard freestyle (22.86 seconds).
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of DeLapp, Drew Youngman, Nolan Busch and JD Thomas combined for a winning time of 3:26.08.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Busch, DeLapp, Thomas and Jack Tonkin won with a combined time of 1:35.28.
Busch placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.65). He also competed in the 200-yard individual medley and took fourth with a time of 2:10.36.
Thomas placed third in the 100-yard freestyle (50.61 seconds) and second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.99 seconds). Tonkin took on the diving event and finished third with a score of 396.8.
