BLOOMSBURG — Mexico High School graduate Trevor Allard is getting national attention while competing for the Bloomsburg University wrestling team, an NCAA Division I program.
Competing at 184 pounds, the Huskies senior is ranked 14th in both the InterMat and FloWrestling national rankings, and fourth in the Mid-American Conference poll.
So far this season, Allard has posted a 9-1 record. He’s garnered first-place results at the Clarion Open and the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in the first two weekends before settling for a runner-up finish in the recent Black Knight Invitational hosted by Army West Point.
Austin Reed (Brockport State): Mexico High School grad Austin Reed recently competed with the Brockport State wrestling team at the New York State Collegiate Championship Tournament at Oswego State.
Competing in the 149-pound bracket, Reed went 2-3 at the tournament. His victories were a pin and a sudden victory.
Clara Culeton (SUNY Oneonta): Oswego High School grad Clara Culeton is in her junior season with the SUNY Oneonta women’s basketball team.
In the Red Dragons’ 56-54 loss to Hartwick College on Nov. 21, Culeton finished with seven points, 10 boards and a block.
Back on Nov. 19 in Oneonta’s 78-70 win over Utica College, Culeton tabbed 14 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double.
Culeton recently wrapped up a stellar season with the Dragons’ volleyball team.
The junior earned a slew of honors. She was a SUNY Athletic Conference and an All-New York Region first-team selection, and an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention.
Culeton finished her volleyball campaign with career highs in kills (321) and blocks (102). She also posted a 41 percent hitting percentage.
Amy Holland (Cazenovia College): Mexico High School grad Amy Holland is in her senior season with the Cazenovia College women’s basketball team.
On Nov. 19 in the Wildcats’ 81-64 win over SUNY Delhi, Holland led all scorers with 25 points. She also had five rebounds and two steals.
In Cazenovia’s 70-52 loss to Clarkson University on Nov. 23, Holland tossed in 11 points.
Sydney Alton (D’Youville College): Hannibal High School grad Sydney Alton had nine points, six rebounds, and a steal in the D’Youville College women’s basketball team’s 65-50 win over Alfred State on Nov. 26.
Katie Pitcher (SUNY Fredonia): Hannibal High School grad Katie Pitcher recorded seven points, 10 rebounds, and two steals in the Fredonia women’s basketball team’s 65-49 victory over Medaille College on Nov. 22.
Cody Green (Nazareth College): G. Ray Bodley High School grad and Fulton native Cody Green is in his senior year with the Nazareth College men’s basketball team.
Green scored 13 points in the Golden Flyers’ 77-73 loss to Oswego State on Nov. 26. In Nazareth’s 77-56 loss to the University of Rochester on Nov. 23, Green had 14 points.
Through six games with the Flyers, Green is shooting 45 percent from 3-point range (21-of-47).
Daniel Mullen (SUNY Cobleskill): Mexico High School grad Daniel Mullen was recently named the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Athlete of the Week.
Mullen recently helped the Tigers win pair of decisions at a double dual meet. Cobleskill won a 108-44 decision over Roberts Wesleyan College, while posting a 116-85 decision Wells College. Mullen won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:39.34) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.06). He also swam a leg of the Tigers’ winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:53.97).
Austin Richardson and Christian Davis (Le Moyne College): Oswego High School grads Austin Richardson and Christian Davis are competing with the Le Moyne College men’s swim team this season.
In the Dolphins’ 135.5-94.5 meet victory over The College of Saint Rose on Nov. 23, Richardson won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.99. He finished third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:33.77).
Davis took third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.41). He swam the second leg of the 200-yard medley relay that placed second (1:46.27).
Allie Rodgers (Robert Morris University): Oswego native Allie Rodgers is in the thick of her junior season with the Robert Morris women’s hockey team.
At the forward position for the Colonials, Rodgers has started in 12 games so far this season. She has recorded five blocked shots, while taking five shots herself.
Monica Cahill (SUNY Cortland): Oswego High School grad Monica Cahill is in her first season with the Cortland women’s hockey team.
Cahill has appeared in two games so far this season, tallying a total of three shots on goal.
Nicole Hansen (SUNY Potsdam): G. Ray Bodley High School grad and Fulton native Nicole Hansen recently finished her junior season with the SUNY Potsdam volleyball team.
Hansen was second on the team in points with 230.5 and kills with 192. She was third on the team in service aces (31) and digs with 232.
Mallory Clark (Cazenovia College): G. Ray Bodley High School grad and Fulton native Mallory Clark recently finished her career with the Cazenovia College volleyball team.
Clark tallied a total of 120 kills and 141.5 points in her final season with Cazenovia.
Ashton Ariola (William Smith College): Mexico High School grad Ashton Ariola and the William Smith College women’s soccer team is slated to compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament semifinal round this Friday against Pomona-Pitzer.
The Herons are 20-1-1 on the season and are making their 11th trip to the national semifinals.
Ariola was recently named to the Liberty League’s All-Academic team. She has been sidelined by an injury this season.
Callie Beckwith (Campbell University): G. Ray Bodley High School grad and Fulton native Callie Beckwith recently wrapped up her career with the Campbell University women’s soccer team.
Beckwith was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team, and was a Big South All-Conference second-team selection. She started in all 19 games for Campbell.
Darrin Cooper (Anna Maria College): G. Ray Bodley High School grad and Fulton native Darrin Cooper recently ended his junior season with the Anna Maria College football team.
In his last two games for the Wildcats, Cooper recorded seven tackles and broke up a pass attempt.
College athlete submissions
The Palladium-Times sports department is looking for submissions on local former high school athletes who are currently competing for a college sports team.
The department puts together a regular college sports roundup centered on former high school athletes from Oswego County.
