Competition on the lake

Sailors take part in a past regatta on Lake Ontario.

OSWEGO — The 20th annual Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, in Lake Ontario off Oswego Harbor.

Last year, the regatta event raised more than $20,000 that assisted patients and families in Oswego County Hospice. Since its inception, the regatta has raised almost $380,000, which has directly helped to defray the costs of non-medical expenses for hospice patients and their families.

The Friends of Oswego County Hospice provides financial support and relief to hospice patients and their families at a time when they need it the most. This may be a gift card for groceries, supplying personal care items, or funds to cover rent/mortgages or utilities. The Friends also fund the Hospice Volunteer Program and Camp Rainbow of Hope, a bereavement camp for children. Camp Rainbow of Hope is also celebrating 20 years of helping children to cope with their grief this year.

The sailing races begin at 10 a.m. at the Oswego Yacht Club. The reception following the races is open to the public and will feature chicken dinners from the Woodchuck Saloon. Dinner pickup will begin at 3 p.m. and the reception will follow at 4 p.m. with dinner and live entertainment. An auction, raffle drawings, and the awards ceremony will round out the event.

Dinner tickets are available. Individuals interested in attending are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are available at Bosco’s Meats by calling 315-343-5223 or by email to

Following the reception, there will be an after party at Gibby’s Irish Pub. A portion of proceeds will be donated to The Friends of Oswego County Hospice.

This year’s major sponsors include Exelon Generation, an Exelon Company, The Kinney Drug Foundation, Eagle Beverage, and Pathfinder Bank.

Memorial contributions, to be included in the event program, may also be mailed to The Friends of Oswego County Hospice at P.O. Box 102, Oswego, NY 13126.

There is still time to become a sponsor, or make a donation to the auction. For more information, call The Friends of Hospice at 315-343-5223 or email
