OSWEGO — The Oswego YMCA’s 31st annual Harborfest 5K and 10K races will be presented by Oswego Health’s Center for Orthopedic Care on Saturday, July 27, at 8:30 a.m.

On the same day, Oswego Health is sponsoring the “Healthy Kids on the Run” kids’ fun run at 8 a.m.

“As the area’s most comprehensive health care provider, we value supporting our community partners and being involved,” said Michael Harlovic, Oswego Health CEO. “We work with the Y so they may continue to deliver programs with the health and wellness of the community in mind.”

In addition, the YMCA has received financial support of this event from Compass Credit Union, Burritt Motors, and Felix Schoeller North America.

Proceeds from the event go toward supporting Y programs that help create and deliver positive change to kids, adults, and families.

The Y has been in downtown Oswego and has been strengthening the community for more than 160 years.

“This run has become a summertime staple for many Oswego families and visiting friends during Harborfest weekend,” said Trish Levine, health and wellness director at the Oswego YMCA.

Levine noted that the event has been made possible because of the generosity of community sponsors and supporters like Oswego Health, as well as the large group of dedicated volunteers. Local community volunteers and school groups are needed and encouraged to sign up to volunteer for the event, she added.

The Harborfest 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run will start at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Oswego YMCA, 265 W. First St., Oswego. It will finish at Civic Plaza along West First Street.

The kids’ fun run, for ages 4-12, offers distances of a quarter-mile, a half-mile, and one mile.

There is an entry fee for all events, and fees increase on the day of the event. Online registration is available at

The Oswego YMCA will accept in-person registration until 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Event shirts in selected sizes are guaranteed to those who register before July 1, and are in limited supply after that.

Refreshments and awards will take place in Civic Plaza following the events.
