RIO HONDO, Texas — Roger E. Looker, 79, of Rio Hondo, Texas, passed away Nov. 24, 2019 with his wife at his side, at Harlingen Nursing & Rehab Center from complications from Parkinson’s.

He was born March 28, 1940 in Fulton, New York, to the late Irvin & Ida Welch Looker. Roger resided in Oswego and Fulton most of his life, until retirement took he and his wife of 44 years, Marion Burgo Looker, to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.

Roger attended Scriba country school then Oswego schools, was employed at Morrill Press, had a water well drilling business, and retired from Boilermakers Local No. 175. He and Marion successfully had a fishing charter business on Lake Ontario.

He was a past board member for Lake Ontario Charter Boat Assoc. and a past member of the Oswego Elks, Masons, and past monarch of Whango Grotto. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and NASCAR fan. He loved cars and restored and maintained them. He raced snowmobiles, drag cars and modifieds, as well as brief stint in Mel Dodge’s super modified.

In addition to his wife Marion, Roger is survived by two daughters, Robbin (Ted) Guis of Montana and Rochelle (Rodney) Walsh of New Jersey; two granddaughters, Samantha Guis of New Jersey and Kimberly Guis of Montana; two sisters, Sandra Patchett of Texas and Vickie Looker of New York; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his fur kids; Clyde and Navidad.
