OSWEGO — Patricia Elna Thesier, 77, a resident of Oswego, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego.

Mrs. Thesier was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Francis and Ruth (Swanson) Penney.

She was a registered nurse, earning her nursing degree from The House of the Good Samaritan in Watertown.

Her lifelong volunteerism was passionate and varied. Whether running Girl Scout meetings, working in food banks, hosting exchange students or advocating for world peace, she has left the world a better place.

Having moved several times in later years “following the grandkids,” her volunteer activities in elementary schools left a legacy of literacy across several states. She became quickly known as “Grandma Pat,” everybody’s grandma.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Laurence A. Thesier of Fulton; a daughter, Ruth (Jens) Baake of Washington, DC; a son, Francis (Phyllis) Thesier of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Annika Baake, Alexandra Baake, Tessa (Peter) Choby, Robin Elliot and Meagan Kiendzior.

Calling hours will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, with a memorial service to follow at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.

A private burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Scriba, New York.

Her family is very grateful for the excellent care she received at St. Luke Health Services. They ask that any contributions in her memory be made to the St. Luke Activities Program, 299 E. River Road, Oswego, NY 13126.
