JACKSON, TN — Mary I. Desens, 81, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away on Nov. 6, 2019 at Maplewood healthcare in Jackson.
Mary was born on Dec. 18, 1937 in Oswego, New York, to the late Bernard and Irene France. She graduated from Oswego High School in 1954. She married the love of her life, Harry A. Desens on Jan. 24, 1959.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother of three children. When the children were older, she went to work at Marine Midland Bank as a bank teller. She loved her work as a bank teller and was well loved and admired by all of her customers. She always had a friendly smile for everyone.
After her children went on to college, Mary was able to retire and devoted her life to her late husband, Harry and their dogs, Dorian and Chubbs. They decided to retire in Jackson, Tennessee, and enjoy each other, the warmer weather, and frequent visits to Tunica, Mississippi.
She is survived by a son, Michael Desens and his wife Susan of Puyallup, Washington; son Timothy Desens of Clifton Park, New York; daughter, Debra Desens of Jackson, Tennessee; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister Eleanor Leonard of Oswego, New York.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and no local services will be held.
