OSWEGO — John C. Scheirer, “Butch,” 72, a resident of the town of Oswego, passed away on Nov. 15, 2020, surrounded by family.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of Ursula (Rando) Scheirer and Clare “Red” Murray. He was also predeceased by his stepfather Kenneth Scheirer.
Surviving are his wife and best friend, Rose Vinciguerra; three children, Matthew (Angela) Scheirer, Joshua (Teri) Scheirer and Lisa Vinciguerra; three granddaughters whom he adored, Madison, Clare and Hannah; and two step-grandsons, Greg and Josh Holmes. He thoroughly enjoyed and loved spending time with his family.
John was a proud member of the Boilermakers’ Local 175 with 30 years of service. He loved to reminisce about the jobs he worked on and the places he traveled. Before becoming a boilermaker, he was a tool and dye maker with Syroco.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and playing cribbage with his friends on their “Fun Fridays.” He was also an avid Yankee and SU fan and always had the ritual of wearing their official cap on game days.
He will forever be in our hearts.
A service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are in care of Nelson Funeral Home.
