Gloria (Cookie) Jean Brown of Oswego, NY left her earthly body on Oct. 9, 2019 in San Antonio, TX.
Gloria was born on Sept. 6, 1947 in Oswego, NY.
She wed her husband of 55 years, James Brown Sr. in 1964. They resided in Oswego until they moved between San Antonio, TX and Raleigh, NC in 1997 to be closer to their grandchildren.
Gloria’s legacy will live through her four children: James Brown Jr of Maui, Hawaii, Kim Apgar (Peter) of Syracuse, NY, Robert Brown (Christie) of Apex, NC, and Heather Cola (Jimmy) of San Antonio, TX. She will be remembered as their beautiful Grammy by her seven grandchildren: Alyssa Cola, Eric Ritchie, Andi Rathavongsa, Zoey Cola, Jacy’ Cola, Emily Apgar, and Silas Brown.She was blessed with four great grandchildren: Haylie Jayne, Jayden, and Kaylin Cola, and Sadie-Lynn Ritchie.Her siblings: Lorraine, Louis, Sandra, Bonnie, Barbara, and James will fondly remember her as “Cookie.”
She is preceded in death by Louis Barton (father), Doris Barton (mother), Robert Barton (brother).Gloria’s life was lived as a devoted wife, loving mother, and caregiver. She was an influential part of the lives of many children in both New York and Texas. She considered each one of them a part of her family.
Gloria found happiness in her family and faith. Through her faith she found the strength and bravery to live her days with cancer on her own terms. She did not lose her battle with cancer, rather she won the fight to live HER life, HER way. She leaves us all with the legacy of undeterred faith, strength, and most importantly love.
