OSWEGO — Frank J. Strang, 86, of Oswego passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, at the Oswego Hospital. He was born in Fairfield, Iowa and was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Burke) Strang.
He was the beloved husband of Marcia L. (Hampsmire) Strang for 63 years.
Mr. Strang attended Iowa Wesleyan College prior to his service in the United States Navy. He moved to Oswego in 1961 during the development and construction of the Alroll Aluminum Co. plant in Scriba. He retired from Alcan after more than 30 years where he served as Maintenance Superintendent.
Following retirement, Frank and Marcia wintered in Florida and traveled extensively throughout the world returning to Oswego for the summer months, where he loved camping, fishing and bird watching.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Joseph) Ascenzi of Minetto; one son, David (Susan) Strang of Holliston, Massachusetts; two sisters, Joanne (Richard) Looker of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Chris Ryan of Cedar Rapids, Iowal four grandchildren, Ellen Strang, Timothy Strang, Deana (Richard) Lafond and Elisa (Shane) Broadwell; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan (Nick) Sterio, Sydney Mangano, Samuel Broadwell and Mathew Broadwell.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
