Carol Ann Elder-Ziel, a resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Peekskill, New York and formerly of Oswego, New York, passed on Sept. 21, 2019 in Myrtle Beach.
A 1951 graduate of Marymount College, Tarrytown, New York, she also studied extensively with Eastman School of Music and Syracuse University throughout college years.
Mrs. Elder-Ziel was a Diocesan Musician with Syracuse Roman Catholic Diocese serving many Parishes for more than 60 years. She was retired from the Archdiocese of New York in 2013 as music director for St. Columbanus, Peekskill.
She was predeceased by her parents, Grover C. Elder, MD and Marie A. Elder; brother, Thomas G. Elder. Her Husband of 58 years, John F. Ziel, preceded her on Dec. 29, 2006.
Carol is survived by her children, Melanie Elder Ziel of Syracuse, New York, and Peekskill, New York; Jeffery J. Virgo, Andrea (Mark) Elder Ziel-D’Amico of Myrtle Beach; John Grover Ziel of Florida; Julia Elder (Rocco) Alvaro of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and Jaye Max Ziel of Syracuse; seven grandchildren, Daniel James Fedele, Justin Ryan (Crystal) Fedele, Hanna Doreen Fedele, Emily Ann (Sam) Henkel, Joseph Rocco Alvaro, Marissa Marie Alvaro and Julia Brooke Ziel; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Wyatt and Callie Mae Fedele.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Farone & Son Inc Funeral Home, 1500 Park St., Syracuse.
A funeral service to honor Carol’s life will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 9:30 a.m. at the Farone & Son Inc. Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.
