PLANO, Texas — Bertha Koes, 89, a long time Fulton area resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, in Plano Texas, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. 

She was the loving wife of the late Alfred Koes. 

She was born on April 2, 1930 to the late Nellie and Clayton Roberts of Fulton. In her younger days Bertha was active in the Granby Center Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She held a number of jobs over the years, retiring from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier out of the Oswego Post Office.

Bertha is survived by her three children and their spouses, Sonja Horan (Tom) of Richardson, Texas; Robin Koes (Gregeen) of Fulton; and Alvin Koes (Nancy) of Lynchburg, Virginia; six grandsons and their spouses; and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private celebration of Bertha’s life at a later date, with final internment at Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse.
