OSWEGO — Oswego County’s foremost female empowerment organization is seeking nominations of outstanding women to be honored in conjunction with the group’s 100 year anniversary.

Zonta International was founded in Buffalo in 1919 with the goal of improving the lives of women around the nation and globe. The Zonta Club of Oswego chapter was formed in 1955.

As part of Zonta’s centennial celebration this year, the club is looking  to recognize women whose contributions may otherwise go unnoticed.

“We’re seeking to recognize Oswego County’s unsung heroes who give freely of their time and talents to empower, encourage and mentor women,” said Zonta’s Dorothy Bonney. “If you know of a woman in the county who embodies these characteristics, please nominate this person.”

A celebration to honor the selected “unsung heroes” will be held Thursday, Oct. 3 at  Vona’s Restaurant.

Nomination forms can be obtained on Page 3 of this edition of The Palladium-Times, at the Zonta Club of Oswego Facebook page or by e-mailing Bonney at dgeorge2@twcny.rr.com. Nominations are due by Aug. 31 to Zonta Club of Oswego, PO Box 5524, Oswego, NY 13126 or via e-mail.
