WILLIAMSTOWN — Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after a vehicle chase that ended on West 2nd Street in the city of Oswego on Monday.
Michael W. Haskins, 25, of Williamstown was charged with unlawful fleeing from a police officer after officials said he illegally passed an ambulance near the Town of New Haven at approximately 9:35 p.m.
The chase then went through the Town of Scriba and into the Port city, where deputies ceased the pursuit for safety reasons, according to Oswego County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Brian Wills.
Further, Wills said the sheriff’s office worked in conjunction with another law enforcement agency and eventually stopped Haskins at about 10:22 p.m..
During the pursuit Haskins also racked up other charges based on multiple traffic-related offenses, according to officials, including aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, failure to keep right and failing to stop at a stop sign.
Haskins was arraigned in court in the Town of Palermo and remanded to Oswego County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $2000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on June 4.
