SCRIBA — A Mexico man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a child over the course of more than two years.
State police arrested 42-year-old James E. Pitcher Jr. Monday, accusing the Mexico resident of sexually abusing a female less than 14 years of age multiple times. Police said the victim recently came forward with the allegations of abuse, which allegedly started in 2012 and continued through December 2014.
Authorities said the alleged abuse, which included Pitcher subjecting the child to sexual intercourse, occurred at a residence in the city of Fulton.
Police charged Pitcher with second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and second-degree rap, both class D felonies. Pitcher was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
Pitcher was arraigned in Scriba Town Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
State police said Oswego County Child Protective Services and the Oswego County Child Advocacy Center assisted in the investigation.
