MADELINE IS HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE! – Everyone is Madeline at the annual festival celebrating the title character of Ludwig Bemelmans’ well-loved children’s books. Stationed at Fort Ontario during World War I, he penned the series following his term in the U.S. Army. The third annual event was held at Fort Ontario State Historic Site and featured a children’s production of “Madeline and the Gypsies,” the Oswego Art Association’s exhibit “Madeline in Oswego” along with various arts and crafts projects, puppet activities with Marionette Magic Theatre and games with Miss Clavel. Other highlights included kite-flying and giant bubbles, “Madeline” book readings, the Oswego Bookmobile, a children’s parade, and an ice cream social courtesy of the Children’s Museum of Oswego. Pictured is Sonia Berlin of the Oswego Players joining other “Madelines” in the parade. For more great family events, go to www.visitoswegocounty.com or call 315-349-8322.
