OSWEGO – The Oswego County Traffic Safety Board (OCTSB) is pleased to announce a car seat safety check event running in conjunction with the Oswego County Public Safety Day. Come to the Oswego County Highway Department on Schaad Drive in Scriba from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 3 to get your child’s car seat checked.

“This is going to be a great event, free for the entire Oswego County community,” said OCTSB Coordinator Kyle Boeckmann. “We will offer free car seat checks to help ensure proper use, answer any caregiver questions and offer support and education to all attendees on proper car seat use and installation.”

Certified car seat technicians from various agencies will be on hand to assist. No appointment is necessary to participate in this event, simply arrive at your desired time frame and follow signs to the car seat check and pull up.

According to recent polling, about 90 percent of all car seats are installed incorrectly. Boeckmann said, “It is our mission to make certain seats are used properly to ensure the safety of all children. We would also like to thank the Oswego County Sheriff Department for inviting us to participate in this annual event.”

If you have any questions about the car seat event, please contact Kyle Boeckmann at 315-343-2344, ext. 22 or e-mail at oswgtsb@icpoc.org. This car seat event is held by the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board through a grant from the New York State Governors Traffic Safety Committee.
