Fulton PD: Man assaulted baby, toddler

FULTON — An Oswego man was arrested this week after an investigation into the alleged assault of two children under the age of 2.

Andrew N. Jones, of 322 Thompson Rd., Oswego, was charged Tuesday with second-degree assault, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

According to police, Jones was staying with the mother of two children aged 8 months and 20 months when, after the mother had left the residence to go to work, he caused “extensive injuries” to the children.

Fulton police did not elaborate on the nature of the alleged assault or injuries to the children beyond “extensive bruising.” The children were treated at Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse and later released, police said.

The Oswego County Department of Social Services was also involved in the investigation of the alleged assault, which police said occurred on Sept. 23, 2019.

Jones was arraigned in Fulton City Court on Wednesday morning, according to police.
